About BuBu

BuBu Blossom was born out of inspiration...and my love of all things creative. A place where all of my experience and latent gifts and talents have come together.

A combination of my paintings, drawings, love of colour, texture and photography with a connection to loving often healing words has become my signature style. Putting these into 'form' has been my most challenging but rewarding journey. One that has encouraged me totally to be myself. And that has part of my inspiration for the name of BuBu.

BuBu has many meanings. My dear friend called me a bubu and I had no idea what it meant. She explained it was Greek slang for a beautiful woman who had it 'going on'...that particular day I had my flower shoes on, a flower in my hair and a floral handbag. I loved the sound of the name and it felt like there was a connection to my love of feminine beauty.

Since then I found another meaning I connected to.The Egyptian translation ~ giving light.  I feel this is the essence of BuBu, the core.

Whilst I was considering BuBu as a business name, my husband asked me how to spell it. B U B U. (be you be you) and that was the confirmation I was looking for. And blossom, well that is a word that describes childhood memories, my love of flowers, spring and natural beauty.

The decision to create this way was a deep urge to expand my creativity and use the knowledge that I have gained over the years. Studying Visual arts, painting since 2002, absolutely loving mixed media collage and studying Perceptive Astrology. How was it meant to all come together?

I choose to start anew with Bubu.I continue to paint, journal and teach, which endlessly inspires my creations here.

BuBu's logo is very dear to my heart. The flower is a double Hibiscus's, one of the few plants I loved in our garden when we bought our house. The colour  and shape of the leaves was so inspiring it was the subject of one of my first paintings. That painting began my artistic career. I took it to the framer, where it didn't get framed but it did get sold. It has been a recurring symbol thought my art for many years.

And the circle, it represents a pearl. It is taken from a photo of a shell . Wearing pearls, collecting shells are both great loves of mine. A lovely reflection of where I am now.
